Happy Voter Registration Day

It's easier than ever to join the Green Party!  California residents can now register online, and you no longer have to print out and mail in a paper form.  And although same-day voter registration recently passed, it is not yet in effect.  You have until October 22 to register for this November's election if you have moved to a different address.

Occupation Update

Peaceful "Occupy" protests around the country are being violently supressed, mostly by Democratic Party mayors like Ed Lee.  LA Green Party member Patrick Meighan writes about his recent arrest on his blog.

In response, West Coast occupiers are coordinating a port blockade this Monday, 12/12.  Join SF Greens at the Oakland protest, leaving promptly at 5 PM Monday from the West Oakland BART station.  Get further info and RSVP here.

Endorsement Update

We endorsed candidates following our forum on September 13, and the results (along with our proposition endorsements) are posted here.  Thanks to all the Green Party members who participated, and to the candidates who filled out our questionnaires!  We will be working on our Voter Guide over the next few weeks, which will include longer write-ups for each of these endorsements.  If you can volunteer to help us with that project, email This email address is being protected from spambots. To become a member of the Green Party, you can register online from any county in California.  As of September 2012, everything can be done securely online without mailing in any paper!

The Green Party is an independent party based on Ten Key Values, one of which is "future focus."  America can't be turned into a multi-party democracy overnight. But it's a necessary reform towards solving the real problems we face.

Unlike all other political parties in the US, all our policies and endorsements are decided by our grassroots activists, not from the top down by elected officials.  In the SF Green Party, anybody who spends an afternoon registering Greens at a street fair has a direct and equal voice in our decisions.  It's easy to get involved and make a difference!

If you'd like to become more active in the party, just look for volunteer opportunities at events on our calendar.  Some other events, and all our meetings, are announced our newsletter.  You can find the latest one in our newsletter archives if you don't subscribe.  Stop in at a meeting and meet us--all our meetings are open to the public, and new members are welcome!  We meet on the 4th Wednesdays of every month from 7-9 pm at our new office, 2973 16th St, #300.  We moved in early 2024, and our new office is across the street from our old location in the Redstone Building, but still located between the 16th St BART station and South Van Ness.
